Amazon Adventure Returns: Yggdrasil’s MultiFly! 2 Unveils 10,311x Max Win

After a six-year hiatus, Yggdrasil has resurrected its beloved chameleon protagonist in a sequel that promises significantly higher stakes and more chaotic gameplay. The new title, MultiFly! 2 MultiMax™, launches globally on June 30, bringing a refreshed visual style and expanded mechanics to markets including the UK, Sweden, and the Netherlands. While the core identity remains rooted in the original’s jungle theme, the developer has rebuilt the entire technical infrastructure to deliver a more dynamic and rewarding experience for players.

Core Mechanics and the Evolved MultiMax System

The game retains the familiar 5×3 reel layout and 243 Ways to Win configuration, but the Avalanche mechanic has been refined to create more frequent cascading wins. When winning symbols disappear, new ones tumble down, and every avalanche win now spawns a WILD symbol. This WILD triggers the signature MultiMax™ feature, which increases the reel multiplier by a random value of 1x, 2x, or 3x during the base game. During the upgraded Free Spins feature, these increases escalate to 2x, 3x, or 5x. Unlike the original version where multipliers were multiplicative, the new system stacks them additively, meaning the values accumulate on the reel and apply to any winning combination passing through that specific column. This additive stacking allows wins to build rapidly as multipliers persist and grow throughout a cascade sequence.

Free Spins and the Two-Tier Buy Bonus

Players can trigger the Free Spins feature by landing three or more Poison Dart Frog Scatter symbols anywhere on the grid. The number of spins awarded depends on the count of scatters: three scatters grant 5 spins, four grant 10, and five grant 15. The most critical advantage of this feature is that accumulated reel multipliers do not reset between spins; they carry through the entire round, creating the potential for massive payouts as the multiplier value climbs. In select markets with participating operators, the game introduces a two-tier Buy Bonus system. This allows players to bypass the base game and purchase immediate access to the feature. There are up to six distinct Buy Bonus options available, offering a choice between standard Free Spins or a premium package that includes a higher concentration of WILDs and starting multipliers.

New Features and Technical Specifications

Beyond the familiar chameleon, the sequel introduces a new gameplay element called Scatter Pays. This feature awards instant payouts if a player lands just one or two Scatter symbols, adding a layer of excitement even when the full Free Spins trigger is not met. The visual overhaul brings a more realistic and grounded Amazonian aesthetic, featuring high-paying symbols like turtles, crocodides, snakes, and lizards, while the Poison Dart Frog remains the key Scatter symbol. From a technical standpoint, the game is classified as high volatility with a Hit Frequency of approximately 20%. The Return to Player (RTP) is set at up to 96%, and the maximum win potential has been calculated at 10,311x the stake, offering a competitive ceiling within the MultiMax catalogue.

Developer Insight on the Sequel

Krzysztof Pudło, the Head of Games at Yggdrasil, emphasized the pressure to honor the original while innovating significantly. He noted that the team built the game from scratch on a completely new technical stack, which allowed them to refine tools and infrastructure beyond the limitations of the original setup. This technical freedom enabled the addition of new features like Scatter Pays and the enhanced additive multiplier system. The immersive sound design and glowing firefly visuals continue to transport players into the rainforest, where the chameleon hunts for rewards. With more free spins, higher multipliers, and wilder moments, MultiFly! 2 MultiMax™ successfully balances nostalgia with fresh mechanics that push the gaming experience further.
